'I Give It a Year' Movie Review

Last night I attended a preview showing of a new rom-com starring Minnie Driver, Rose Byrne and Stephen Merchant, among others. I Give It a Year sees the life of a newly-wed couple unravel in an incredibly witty and clever storyline. This comes as no surprise as it was born from the minds that created Love Actually, Bridget Jones's Diary and Borat!
The leading man is played by Rafe Spall, some of you may recognise him from his small part in One Day opposite Anne Hathaway as well as recent Oscar-nominated Life of Pi. Australian-born Rose Byrne, of Bridesmaids fame, plays the female lead. The two play off each other brilliantly and put it stellar performances as a couple struggling with married life.
Already a fan of Stephen Merchant having seen his stand up live, I was interested to see how he portrayed the token 'best friend'. His humour and inappropriate anecdotes were one of my favourite parts of the movie and can only be described as hilarious! Minnie Driver also delivers clever one-liners as the cynical older sister.
On the whole, a great, heart-warming tale of the trials and tribulations of married life and ultimately finding the one. I highly recommend it!

I Give It a Year is released across the UK on February 8th

Kate Hudson: Designer

Today it was announced that Kate Hudson will be designing a capsule collection for an American brand that she is already the face of, Ann Taylor.

Her collection is expected to be reminiscent of her personal style; simple, chic yet practical. I love Kate's simple yet elegant style, especially the outfits she wears to award ceremonies and events. In my previous post on The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards, I crowned Kate Hudson my best dressed of the night in this black, floor length Alexander McQueen gown.

Below are a few more of my favourites...

In Stella McCartney at the British Fashion Awards 2011

Sporting her signature messy fringe and golden locks at the Elle Style Awards in 2008

In a flawless white dress at the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2010

In a nude, lace Versace dress fit for princess

Are you looking forward to seeing what Kate comes up with? What celebrity styles do you admire?

The 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards 2013

The award season has been ceremoniously launched with the Golden Globes taking place last night in Beverly Hills. A whole host of television and film stars along with the usual set of celebrity faces turned out for the ceremony that saw Les Miserables and Argo taking centre stage. Anne Hathaway and Hugh Jackman both picked up awards for their portrayals in the classic musical as well as winning Best Picture in the musical or comedy category.
Ben Affleck also scooped up a couple of awards for his latest directorial feature, Argo, including Best Picture in the drama category and Best Director.
But enough of who won what, lets get to the stuff that matters, who wore what! There was an array of great dresses and suits on display and here are a few of my favourites...

Anne Hathaway in a glamorous yet understated Chanel couture gown clutching her award for Best Supporting Actress.

Ben Affleck looking very pleased with his win in a three-piece suit complete with bow tie and contrast lapels.

Jessica Chastain looking graceful with her award in a mint green Calvin Klein halter-dress.

Claire Danes, winner of Best Actress in a drama series, chose a stunning Versace dress in red to compliment her golden locks.

My favourite dress of the night was the Alexander McQueen gown worn by Kate Hudson. I love the ornate neck detail, simple waist-cinching belt and the strategically placed cut out. The long sleeves and floor sweeping length keep it simple and ultra-sophisticated. Definitely something I would love to wear, you know, when I'm invited to the Oscars......
