Where The Wild Things Are

Backstage at Michael Kors

There's nothing like a bit of animal print to put me in the mood for those long summer days and floaty, beach cover-ups. The Spring/Summer catwalks were awash with leopard, zebra and cheetah prints in various forms. Michael Kors took us on a safari inspired by his recent trip to Africa, with subtle earth tones breaking up the bold prints.

A contrast on the neutral colours commonly associated with animal prints, some designers said it with neon. Henry Holland scattered his leopard prints amidst paint-spattered jeans and snake-skin collared blouses where as Proenza Schouler took a minimal approach and used panelling to incorporate the classic trend.

Marvellous McQueen

Sarah Burton has, yet again, done the late Lee McQueen justice with a fairytale collection full of frills, spills and pure works of art.
Strong tailoring that still looked as light as air, an abundance of lace but not too girly and a great softness contrasted with fantastic corsetry; all cement Burton as a powerhouse of design and all this after only three seasons at the helm.
By far my favourite design detail of the entire collection is this effortlessly pulled together corset-come-peplum. The symmetry of the folds, the 'reach out and touch me' texture and the beautiful lavender shade all work brilliantly together. If only I was a millionaire....

Prints Charming

Prints of all shapes and sizes were a hit with the Spring Summer 2012 catwalks, with the likes of Marc Jacobs going for gingham and Valentino putting a romantic twist on florals.

Pink Lace Jacket - £32 from Next

Both of these jackets are a great way to update an otherwise simple outfit and both come in under £35 - bargain! The zebra print is a personal favourite of mine and would be a great addition to a little black dress on a big night out.

Another great way to inject prints into your wardrobe (if you're brave enough) is the floral trouser.
Dress them down with a denim shirt and some flats or dress them up with chunky wedges and a sharp blazer.

How are you wearing your prints this season?

Well.I.Never

Singer, producer, actor, car designer, director of creative innovation for Intel; is there anything Will.i.am can't do?
Well he's made his mark on the fashion world in recent years with the launch of his clothing line I.AM in 2005. He certainly has the credentials for it, having studied at the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising in Los Angeles before making it in music; something that puts him ahead of fellow celebrity designers.

The looks are very much inspired by Will.i.am's futuristic personal style and have a great retro twist.

"I’m just a creative individual and clothing is just another outlet for that creativity.”

I am me, you are you, feel good about it.”

Silhouette of the Season

When Blake Lively likes something, you know you're on to a winner. The Gossip Girl actress is a fan of the newest shape to hit the catwalks; the peplum. She has been snapped wearing versions of it to many a red carpet event and now the High Street have followed suit. The waist-cinching, hourglass figure it creates is very popular with celebrities and designers alike, not to mention myself!

Now you've seen how the rich and famous do it, have a go yourself with these affordable high street alternatives...
